Dear friends, I purposefully did not name this blog ‘Appeal for Help, SOS, Please Help’, or anything else to that effect because I knew that Plamen wouldn’t like it. What he is used to is figuring it out on his own. Always!
To us, the people who know Plamen, he is a ‘man’s man’, a good friend, a great colleague, an awesome boss, and just an ex-classmate. We all know that if he’s not showing up to our next gathering, it is not going to be the same for he is the life of the party and one of the best story tellers. To many of us, he is just our ‘bate Bibi.’ Some will say that he is a heartbreaker, others that he is extraordinarily impatient, and many will categorize him as “just your typical bad boy with difficult character”. Everyone, however, will agree that Plamen is simply one of us!
Lately, Plamen has been head over heels in love with Tedi!
Over the last 4-5 years our Internet and more specifically Facebook culture has made us all witness various ‘Appeals for help’ such as raising money to pay for medical treatments, pleas for donations for good causes, and requests for involvement in different charities. On occasion, we all spare some money from our tight budgets to support what we believe in. Each and every one of us has participated in posting various kinds of messages that show our empathy on our Facebook walls, but we all know that the bigger part of the truth is that everyone thinks to himself or herself: “Thank God, this isn’t happening to me or to anyone I love.” Unfortunately, this time it is happening to us!
Plamen Ganchev is 32 years old and he is from Pleven, Bulgaria. Three months ago he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Unfortunately, the vicious disease is just as real as he is. People say that when it rains, it pours but a ray of light emerges through the clouds to reveal that he still has got a chance to be helped and the closest place to get treatment is in Germany. Sadly, Plamen cannot afford the procedure and he is running out time. This is where we, who love and respect him, come in. As everything is crumbling before our eyes we remain full of hope and that means the world to us.
We all are reaching out to the world: Friends, let us all help Plamen pay for his life-saving operation in Germany by donating money! Spread the word as far as you can, knowing life would always be a little bit better that way and be sure that you’re helping to save the life of a worthy person, a dear friend, a loved son and brother, and an amazing fiancé!
He might not like the idea of this blog for his pride is much bigger than the worst possible physical pain in the world. He might even get mad at all of us for trying to do what we all are doing now, but we’ll take it, as long as he stays and continues to be - one of us!
